PRIMA held its final conference from 07 - 09 September 2026, Rethinking diet-gut-microbiome interactions.
PRIMA wanted to showcase the results from this 7-year project but also receive feedback and instigate new collaborations with other participants who were not part of the project.
Coordinator Tine Rask Licht welcomed the participants with a keynote address covering the origins of PRIMA, the goals of the project, and a review of the results.
The conference had four themed sessions:
Human studies and dietary interventions, with a keynote address by Jens Walter, University College Cork
Nutrient availability, GI pH and gut microbial metabolism, with a keynote address by Karen Scott, University of Aberdeen
Gastrointestinal transit time and microbial metabolism, with a keynote address by Michiel Kleerebezem, Wageningen University
Metabolite-receptor-gut hormone axis, with a keynote address by Fredrik Bäckhed, University of Gothenburg.
PRIMA will be finalized in January 2027.
